  3. Klaatu Congrejo says:

Thanks for the notice bluelinden. Great to see the inworld version is being improved, I’m thinking of installing vendors on a couple of my lands (want to see the newsletter distributed more widely). Also, thanks for the heads up about the RSS copy, have added it to my feeder. I’m off to get my latest newsletter now.

    The other newsletter:

    1. Regions and clients crashes more and more often.
    2. If you are lucky, you just get a Pending Downloads\Uploads sticking.
    3. Want to restart the sim to fix it, wait for a good 6-24 hours for a response.
    4. Second Life’s servers are not being monitored especially on week ends…
    5. Inventory loss is bigger than ever, and happens in a growing number of ways.
    6. Now lost objects not only get lost but remain as ghosted objects on sims.
    7. Group notice and group IM functionality is still broken…

Fantastic guys!! Way to go! Let’s party and celebrate this 4th Birthday!! YAY!

I am interested in hearing how you plan to deal with shininess now that there is a much greater atmospheric lighting effect. A lot of my objects are inconsistent in the amount of shine that is applied, as in some objects even though they are set to low shine, shine much brighter than they should. Is there any way we could have a greater level of flexibility on the amount of shine an object uses, such as a sensitivity slider instead of only the 4 settings (low, medium, high and off)?

Besides having to turn of shininess on half of my objects I am very happy with the WindLight system. I love the complexity and variations of lighting that it provides. I also am thrilled to have a realistic looking skyline : )

Another thing I was curious about… are the clouds still particle in nature like they used to be? I noticed that if you were in a cloudy area it used to effect your maximum particle limit. I tried to fly upward into the clouds in the new system and I wasn’t able to reach them… I think I only went to 500-600m so maybe they are a little higher.

  6. Nulflux Negulesco says:

This thing needs an edit button… lol and I need to stop handling so many windows. Sorry this was meant for the FirstLook topic.

  7. Masuyo Aabye says:

dang.. off topic…this new sky. whoa, just whoa. this is exactly what SL needed

  8. Masuyo Aabye says:

oh and an add on.. the system used to creat settings is pretty simlar to that of TERRAGEN, so i’m pretty used to it!

  9. Vylixan Fallon says:

If you could fix the texture bug in etcit objects applieing a texture ( instead of manual dropping the texture in an object0 this lighting feature will be much better

  10. Ima Mizser says:

off topic, but I’ve been Ruthed since the rolling restart, any plans on fixing that?

Secondlife’s 4th birthday =P. Now if only LL would make this birthday special and fix everything thats broken.

  13. Selkit Diller says:

Very nice. A new newsletter, new features, but still no mention of the age verification bomb they dropped earlier on. I find it highly unusual that they’ve actually now signed Integrity as their company, and yet, have not announced it. Lindens, update your residents please. We’re starting to suspect major skullduggery.

  14. Darien Caldwell says:

“Lindens, update your residents please. We’re starting to suspect major skullduggery.”

And that’s different than any other day? LOL :p

  15. Chris Anthony says:

Completely off topic -but oh well :

    * ‘missing from databae’ – getting that even MORE now & now I think again 5 or 500 times before buying anything these days

    * Group IM’s – nope – not working – any idea when that will be fixed ? In fact I’m getting even screwier messages now than before while trying to send Group IM’s.

    * Mute list – you borked it – working in one of busiest sims in SL it is almost indispensable. Any idea on a fix there ?

    * rezz – fail to rezz – rezz – oops gone – rezz – oh forget it ….

SL is great – correction, my friends in SL are great – and I love being here, but you guys really need to pick up your game. A new version to fix some exisiting bugs and they’re still there and some WORSE – wtf ?!

Maybe you’ve addressed some of this in the newsletter ? (there – on topic)

  16. Haroldthe Burrel says:

Odd, but I am at the kiosk now, and it gave me a March issue and some back issues. No new issue.

  17. Rosemary Galbraith says:

my stipend didn’t get posted this week – not to me or my alt, or my boyfriend’s account – what gives?

  18. Rosemary Galbraith says:

ignore that last comment, issue resolved

  20. cnyreject says:

Nice newsletter keep up the good work!

  21. Great Newsletter, however we need a few things addressed.

    1: Friends online web page
2: Inventory Recent Sort is now usless
3: UBB code re-enabled on the Forums

  22. Usagi Musashi says:

    1.)Friends broken
    2.)Teleports failing
    3.)Objects no rezzing
4.)A blog that is totally useless
5.)If you call dancepads/Money chairs REAL WAY TO MAKE MONEY. Then maybe you should think twice before joining
6.) Too many Second Life experts either they are special or just too stupid to believe They are doing a service for LLABS.

  23. Masuyo Aabye says:

am i the only one who has a problem with the texture picker? it says theres no matching items until i type something in the search box. which is a pain in the butt to do every time i wish to change a texture while building

  24. @21 You are not alone. It’s easier to open inventory, try a very simple search there and drag the texture into the edit box. Search in the edit feature is fubar. Will the disabled friends online page ever be re-enabled?

  25. FF Clayton says:

It would indeed be a Happy 4th Birthday for SL if………

They would FIX IT!!!!!!! We, the commoners, do not have the money to but a new PC every week to try and keep up with LL So be it. I`m not spending money to lose it. Sitting back and chilling.

  26. Despil Korobase says:

    Fix the errors.
Lost about 3000L worth of item..

Introducing new features on a bugged base is software development WORST PRACTICE, don’t act like script kiddies, please.

The games is good, I love it, but the bugs kill it.
And please, and update on this Identity Verification plan.
According to Integrity, they just can do it fine with the data I provided when I signed up in the first place – maybe a partial address what is needed.

“As far as what personal information would be required for disclosure, Colopy [Michael Colopy of Aristotle] said it can be as little as someone’s name, date of birth and a partial or complete address. However, that can vary based on LL’s requirements.”

So, if Integrity/Aristotle doesn’t need my passport number – which I can’t give you unless I break the law her -, then why do Linden Labs need it?

Please, a fresh up. Clear, no double talking, no politician like runaround.

    Thank you.

  27. Dekka Raymaker says:

    @ 21 Masuyo Aabye

I had that for a week, it is a pain in the butt, however, it works for me now.

  28. Lyn Mimistrobell says:

A waste of time and LL resources.
The ppl writing this newsletter would have been put to better use by answering questions and bug reports timely, IE not 2 weeks after reporting and with 2 new updates possibly – tho doubtedly – fixing the bug.

Here’s something that LL should be looking at:

  29. Chrissy says:

Is there an option of getting the newsletter feed to my e-mail? My feed-reader already has plenty of things on it!
